Rabbit rabbit, everyone. It’s time to octoblog.
I’ve mentioned before [a lot], and I suppose I’ll mention it once again, for old times’ sake.. I love stop-motion [a lot].
Here is a very, very brief history of the form. Very.
tally-ho.
Jerry Uelsmann works in a massive darkroom with countless enlargers in an incredibly meticulous process of photographic montage. His surrealistic compositions are nearly Escherian in their impossibility. He seems to be more focused on the poetry of seamless collage than coherence of narrative. Uelsmann eschews the convention of photography as documentation, choosing instead to create purely aesthetic pieces.
Take that, photoschmuck.
Disney goes spooky. I loved these animated shorts as a little girl. This one isn’t particularly scary, but one of the most memorable. The vividness of color, the cackling of Witchhazel, the puppydog broom, cranky Uncle Donald and the vibrating noise after spells are cast.. a tiny detail, but a sound affect I’ll never forget. And the theme song! THE THEME SONG!
Are you gonna treat? Or not?
